We are delighted Tracey Baker, Managing Partner has been elected as President of the Plymouth Law Society.
Tracey took over the role on the 25th November and will strive to strengthen links with the local community; Plymouth City Council; Plymouth Chamber of Commerce and the University of Plymouth. Having lived in Plymouth since the age of ten, Tracey is incredibly passionate about the city and will work to encourage professional development and retention of graduates.
Now a well established professional, Tracey worked hard to achieve this success. Finishing school with just three O-Levels, she undertook a secretarial course before securing an administrative role at Bond Pearce.
Tracey undertook evening classes and secured a further O-Level in Law. She was later approached by Woollcombe Yonge to fill a position as a legal clerk.
The firm supported her through a number of courses and programmes before she was finally admitted as a solicitor in 1997. Almost 20 years after starting with the firm, Tracey became a Managing Partner in 2008.
The Plymouth Law Society currently encompasses 20 member firms which meet regularly to discuss changes in legislation, best practice and business ideas. Established in 1815, the society is well respected in the industry and is one of 120 similar organisations across England and Wales..
Tracey Baker, Managing Partner of Woollcombe Yonge, comments: “It is a real honour to be chosen as President of the Plymouth Law Society. I want to build a relationship between the Society and the community, and let people know what we are trying to achieve. Woollcombe Yonge has been hugely supportive throughout my career and is backing this new role 100%. As Plymouth’s oldest law firm, no company understands more the opportunities the city has to offer."
